"Copacabana" is one of Barry Manilow's most-proclaimed hits. When it was first released in 1978, the general public was addicted to its catchy tune and interesting lyrics. However, after listening to the song a couple of times, it's easy to tell why it's considered one of the most annoying pop songs in history.
The tune is overly repetitive, which can become grating after a while. In fact, this is probably the most common reason for pop songs being annoying: There simply isn't anything interesting or unique that happens during the duration of the tune.
